About Us
The story goes back to August in the year 2020 in a small middle-class home in Goregaon Mumbai, when the husband-wife duo of Ninad and Vidya Gogate founded this venture to Retail Specialized Foods from the Konkan hinterland with a dual purpose – one to give a footprint in Mumbai to the local producers and manufacturers from Konkan and secondly to easily make these products available to their customers in Mumbai.
“Swadart” as the name suggests is a confluence of two attributes namely Swad (Taste) and Art in the realm of food. The tag line “खाणं ही सुद्धा कला आहे.” is suggestive of this synergy. Another aspect of the word ART in the name, was the noble intention to give a platform for artisans (not necessarily from the domain of food and food products) who because of paucity of funds or lack of branding and marketing acumen remained unknown to the world at large.
The journey started from door to door retailing of products like Pickles, Papads, Savories of Yojak Brand including Chakali, Kadboli Sticks, Gul Boondi Laddoos and much more. Then came Diwali and the Diwali Faral in that year met with a huge success. The Faral was again homemade-to-order in Konkan as per specifications and under Swadart’s quality control. All along this journey the marketing and resultant sales was through word of mouth and Whatsapp Groups.
Then there was also a realization that in order to reach more and more people, Swadart had to be easily accessible to the customer. This thought process led to opening of the first Retail Outlet in Goregaon East in February 2021. In addition to Yojak a few other Brands from Konkan also started adorning the shelves in the outlet. Footfall started increasing and Swadart started to become a household name.
Reliance on other manufacturers’ products started diminishing and soon Swadart was selling Ready to Eat Products and Ready to Drink Beverages under the Swadart Brand like Puran Polis, Ukadiche Modak, Shrikhand, Amrakhand, Kharvas, Jams, Pickles, Healthy laddoos and savouries like Chakalis, Roasted Namkeen Items, different kinds of Healthy Cookies, Healthy Cold Pressed Juices etc.
Then Covid struck. People were confined to their homes and another opportunity came knocking viz need for healthy wholesome and nutritious food to customers. Since most families and societies banned maids and cooks and with people working from home, demand for wholesome and nutritious food started increasing. We started getting enquiries for tiffin’s and home delivery. Not to be left behind Swadart rose to this challenge and started food service initially from home kitchen.
As demand started rising Swadart moved into a full-fledged kitchen in August 2021. That was a beginning of another exciting journey from providing lunch and dinner tiffins to getting enquiries for catering services for Groups. Swadart rose to the occasion and today in spite of veterans in this field and stiff competition Swadart is synonymous with Nutritious, Wholesome, Hygienic and Quality food to become one of the best in Goregaon. So much achievement in such a short time. Today Swadart serves customers between Andheri and Dahisar in the western suburbs.
Diwali 2022 was another milestone in the journey. Swadart Faral reached customers in US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Singapore translating to 16 international orders in the second year.
As it completes two plus years Swadart’s vision is to be the most Trusted and Valued Food Brand by the year 2025.
